Flower Garden - Colors for All Seasons

We love to see colors in our gardens all year round. Sometimes the weather doesn't permit us to have such lovely sight.

Well, here are the most dazzling choices for sun and shade.

Annuals that thrive in pots which will give you color times ten from spring to fall.

Pansies (Viola X wittrockiana)

Great burst of color, companioned with spring bulbs. The flat, face-like flowers are loaded with personality. Grown easily from seed and are good for cutting, lasting several days in water. It only needs sun or partial shade.

Flowering season is from fall to spring where winters are mild, spring to fall where summers are cool.


Impatients (Impatiens wallerana)

It has a low drought tolerance, thus valuable for long summer blooms. It only needs partial shade. Flowering season is from spring through fall.

Fan Flower (Scaevola aemula)

These are poor frost tolerant flowers. Thrives in how, dry situations. It is fast growing, tough and low-maintenance plant. It needs full sun and flowers early summer to fall.

Geranium (Pelargonium X hortorum)

This plant has low drought tolerance. Standard zonals prefer full sun; variegated fancy-leafed types do best in partial shade. It also needs sun to partial shade in the afternoon. Flowering season is from late spring to early fall.

Petunias (Petunia X hybrida)

Petunias generally have moderate drought tolerance. Their flowering season is from spring to summer and they require sun or partial shade only.

Verbena (Verbena X hybrida)

Like the petunias this plant also has moderate drought tolerance. The flowering season is late spring to fall. But unlike the petunia, this flower needs full sun to grow.

Nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus)

Its flowers together with its unripe seed pods have a peppery flavor and make a colorful garnish or salad item. Flowering time is from summer to early fall. Light requirement is full sun or light shade.

African Daisy (Osteospermum)

African daisies are basically drought tolerant. It requires sun to partial shade. Its flowering season is from summer to fall.

Begonia (Begonia semperflorens)

This annual requires sun to heavy shade. Like some annuals, it has a low drought tolerance. Flowers appear late spring to early fall.

Bidens (Bidens ferulifolia)

It can survive even with only a little water under the full sun. Flowers appear
during summer and last until fall.
